Where We Work
The PRODUMER project works with small sesame seed producers located along the western side of Nicaragua. Because of its volcanic origins and dry weather conditions, the soil in this region is well suited for sesame cultivation.Produmer has worked with approximately 1000 producers in four main areas of Nicaragua: Ometepe Island, Cosigüina, Malpaisillo and El Sauce. Producers are accepted into the program based on their desire to participate and their willingness to fulfill the contractual obligations set out by Produmer (implementing production technology, trials in environmental preservation, support for spouses in gender training). In its third year of operation, PRODUMER also began working with a small group of producers in Carazo.  |
